The Holy Spirit

Almost all religions claim that the Holy Spirit is God. Like for example the Oneness, they believe that the Holy Spirit is no other than the Father Himself who is a spirit in nature.[John 4:24] Both Catholics and Protestants believe in the Holy Spirit. What complicates their belief, however, is that they also believe that the Father and the Son, Jesus Christ is, or shall we say are, also gods. Yet, they deny or argue that the “THREE” are not “THREE GODS” but “THREE divine persons” which comprised the “one God”.

Setting aside arguments and counter-arguments, we will merely lift verses from the Holy Scriptures to show what the Holy Spirit actually is:

“ The Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything and make you remember all that I have told you”  [John 14:26, TEV]

“ The Helper will come, the Spirit, who reveals the truth about God and who comes from the Father. I will send him to you from the Father, and he will speak about me” [John 15:26, Ibid]

The above cited verses show that the Holy Spirit, the Helper, is sent by both the Father and the Son, Jesus Christ. To insist that the Holy Spirit is God is tantamount to believing in a “God” being sent by the Father and His Son Jesus whom they believe to be God also.  What happens to the scriptural teaching that there is only one true God who is almighty? [Gen 35:11] And hasn’t  it occurred to them that the authority who sends is greater than the one sent?

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his Lord; neither He that is sent greater than He that sent Him.[John 13:16, KJV]

This citation alone should demolish all arguments, nay any inkling  that the Holy Spirit is God.
The Holy Scriptures further testify concerning the Holy Spirit:

“ When, however, the Holy Spirit comes, who reveals the truth about God, he will lead you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own authority, but he will speak of what he hears and will tell you of things to come. He will give me glory , because he will take what I say and tell it to you” [John 16:13-14 TEV]

One of the primary functions of the Holy Spirit, is to reveal  the truth about God. He does not speak on his own authority, but of what he hears only. The Holy Spirit is given by the Father to those who ask Him:

“ As bad as you are,you know how  to give good things to your children, how much more then ,will the Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him” [Luke 11:13, Ibid]

These are some of the truths revealed by the Holy Scriptures concerning Holy Spirit. These truths contradict and belie the Oneness, Catholics, Protestants belief that the Holy Spirit is also true God.
